Mothers Union ImageThe Mothers' Union

The Mothers' Union is a world wide Christian organization which
promotes the well-being of families.

Their purpose is to support  everything that strengthens and
preserves marriage and family life.

Who can join

Membership is open to anyone who is:

  1. Baptised
  2. Believes in the importance of family life.

So men and women; married or single, parents and those
without children can all belong.

Our Branch

The Wombourne Branch meets at our hall at the Church of the Venerable Bede on the
Second Tuesday of each month starting at 2.30pm.   The programme is advertised in our monthly Parish magazine “Grapevine" and also in the Venerable Bede calendar. We have a variety of speakers at our meetings- some serious, some amusing, some thought provoking.

All the work of the Mother’s Union is based on prayer.  And so each month
there is a celebration of Holy Communion at 11.00am at the Venerable Bede which our members make a special effort to attend.  The service is followed by coffee, biscuits, a chat and sometimes an extremely good lunch prepared by members of the church social committee.

The knowledge that we are part of a world wide organisation within the Anglican Church widens horizons. Members learn of the needs of families in this and other countries and we try to give care and help when and where possible.

Our Branch has members from the other churches in our team Ministry and works with the other branches of the Lichfield Diocesan Mothers' Union. This means that our members have the opportunity to attend conferences, and meetings with members from other branches.

At present we have 36 members including three Indoor Members who receive information on a regular basis.

Several of our members have knitted teddies for First  Responders and these go to children who are traumatised after being involved in an accident and we are now knitting garments for premature babies.

The Head-quarters of the Mothers' Union is at Mary Sumner House in Westminster, London, they have an excellent website which you can access through this link. Click here

Our Branch Leader is Pam Purves Tel 01902 893055

Pam is always willing to talk to people about the work of the Mothers' Union in our Parish and to introduce new members to our branch.

Our Mothers' Union is about Friendship, fellowship and fun !
